My friends all have talents. Some are more visible than others, but isn’t that true with everyone?
Everyone has something different to offer in life and we all can contribute different things to our relationships.

We love to shop and support small local businesses and clothing is no exception. I’ve slowly been trying to buy more and more of Harlow’s clothes from our local makers. There is something so special and rewarding from supporting the dream of someone else by purchasing something from their small business.

Do you ever dress your child or children and think… When did they become so much cooler than me ? Or why are all your clothes better than mine ? I do ! All the time !!!
Since becoming a mom the addiction I once had to shopping has now shifted from me to shopping for my daughter (Harlow).
It’s way more fun to shop in mini sizes anyways and to be honest it’s really nice to be able to purchase anything and have it look good on her, and I mean anything ! She’s definitely starting to get a mind of her own now, and that’s challenging when you’re wanting to get her dressed in the morning. There are many days that if we don’t have much going on and I’m working from home she will insist on staying in her Jammie’s. I’m to be point now where I don’t care to fight about it so she stays in her pj’s all day, however when it’s time to go out and do something I need to almost bribe her to put clothes on. We have a few shirts from some local shops we love and adore that have prints on them of, a bunny or a peanut, etc. Those are fairly simple to get her into cause she says they are cute. But if we have a nice dinner to go to you can’t always put on that same cute t-shirt. Where am I going with this ? We finally found a brand that we both LOVE !
Not only do they have super cute and trendy clothes but Harlow actually wants to wear them. This little dress we were sent is so amazingly soft and has pockets !!! Yes pockets !!! That’s what sold Harlow on this dress. She can hide something in there and that’s enough to sell her on it. Usually it’s a small snack or a coin she found somewhere but hey whatever works right ? The other thing I ADORE about Tiny Button Apparel is that its amazing quality fabrics. Kids are hard on their clothes which means a lot of stain removers and washing. This little dress has been washed way too many times to count and it still looks new. I can’t say that about over half of the brands hanging in her closet. So not only is it super soft and stylish it actually lasts.
We are in love with Tiny Button Apparel and I hope you check out their amazing products for your little fashionistas.

I had the pleasure to be sent one of these beautiful round mandalas from Yantra Supply Co. recently.
What is a Mandala you ask ?
A mandala (Sanskrit: मण्डल, lit, circle) is a spiritual and ritual symbol in Indian religions, representing the universe. In common use, “mandala” has become a generic term for any diagram, chart or geometric pattern that represents the cosmos metaphysically or symbolically; a microcosm of the universe.
This beautiful bright printed mandala is even better in person. We are huge beach/ picnic people and since we live in the beautiful lower mainland we like to be outside all the time and will often just take day trips around our beautiful area. This mandala is an item that will stay in our vehicle for those spontaneous picnics and roadside stops. It’s the perfect blanket to take its light, and can roll up to easily to put it in a backpack.
These mandalas are 100% cotton and are hand painted in India. The owner behind Yantra Supply Co. has created the logo, presentation and all the packaging herself here in Vancouver, B.C
Also if your in the market for Christmas gifts this is a great deal if you purchase more than one ….
Round mandalas:
2 for $89.99
3 for $129.99
Round Towels:
2 for $ 159.99
3 for $ 224.99
To find out more info and how to order your own Beach towel or Mandala you can Find Yantra Supply Co. on Instagram or Facebook.

Hope to see a lot of you there !
We moved the beginning of summer to a house in Chilliwack, B.C and when we got the keys noticed just how much work was needed for it to be acceptable to live in with a small child. The house had clearly not been loved in a very long time and had no charm to it. We are such home bodies we wanted somewhere to kick our shoes off and enjoy at the end of the day so we dedicated our time to fixing up our little house. First on the list was making it safe and livable with a little one that likes to touch everything, so covering exposed wires, replacing flooring, etc. Next task was to tackle harlow’s room. I don’t know how many of you have toddlers or have been through this experience personally but the transition from crib to bed was a REALLY rough one. For over 6 months we have shared our bed with a toddler, not an ideal situation.
I wanted it to be modern and fun and be something she would love and could also grow into. With toddlers they change their mind almost every day on what they like so I wanted a neutral pallet to be able to change/update it when the time comes. Right now Harlow is in love with animals she freaked out when she saw her bedding which is where the vision all started, the cats were the inspiration for it all. After purchasing her bedding I was compelled to try to shop local and handmade for as much as possible.
By shopping second hand and just putting some elbow grease into it, the second hand items turned out better than new in my opinion.
I purchased Harlow’s bed frame off of Craigslist, it was a natural looking wood so I mixed my own chalk paint and decided to paint it black. Her bedside table was a cork table I found at value village and decided to paint, by just using painters tape to make the design and tape off the legs for a dipped look. Her dresser was also a thrift store find and when we purchased it, it was a natural looking wood so it got a coat of the same black DIY chalk paint and I painted the inside white to have a bit of contrast. The doors on the bottom were painted with a chalk paint so Harlow could draw on them when she is playing in her room.
I had so much fun pulling this space together and couldn’t have done it without the help of these amazing Local Handmade shops.
All the links are below … to go check out the amazing work they do and show them some love.
WALL DECALS: Feelin it decals
These were custom prints done as a collaboration between me and Feelin it decals and I couldn’t have been more pleased with the outcome. They were super easy to apply and i think they turned out amazing in the room. Go check out their site and awesome products to spice up your walls at home.
WALL PRINTS: Deer lake Creators
These print’s were perfect for the wall. So simple, but I love them so much. This company not only does amazing hand drawn prints they also make amazing unique wood pieces. Go check out the amazing treasures they have on their site.
PALM TREE PAINTING: Poppy and Lace
This cheerful painting was a little pop of colour on the wall that was the perfect addition to the gallery wall. This shop is full of the most amazing, unique and creative pieces the shop owner is beyond talented.
CUSTOM DOLL: Friends for keeps
This doll was one of Harlow’s favourites in the room, from the moment she saw it she wanted to take her everywhere. These little dolls are custom and made with nothing but love and care. They all come in an adorable bag and come pre named. These dolls are the perfect gift for the holidays right around the corner.
“LITTLE” PILLOW: Little and Co
We LOVE this brand and pretty much everything they make. They have the cutest clothes for baby/toddlers and also make the most adorable home decor accessories. You have to check out their website.
WOODEN PLAY SET: Trae Designs
We have always loved wooden toys from the time Harlow was small, I’ve tried to buy wood over plastic. Now that she’s older that’s no exception with her being so rough on things the wood toys also last much longer. This company makes the most adorable natural wooden decor for kids and its made right here in Canada.

Well that time of year has rolled around again and although my daughter isn’t old enough for actual school yet we are preparing for her to start preschool.
I remember every summer as a child the dreaded back to school preparation. Trips to Walmart or staples to go get all the binders, pencils, pens, etc. We would need for the upcoming school year. It was boring and made me a little sad. I wasn’t a child that loved school, heck I barely liked school. However the thought of new fresh items was always an exciting moment. I didn’t want to wreck them and was so cautious of everything for the first semester of school. Somehow by second semester it didn’t matter as much maybe because I can actually started back into full time school or because they had been shoved into my locker a few too many times and been beat down for months that they lost that new car smell and look.
I’m a bit of a clean freak maybe and like everything to always look new. Now having a child that has become a dream and a bit of a laughable, unrealistic expectation. Nothing stays new looking or even clean for that matter. But it’s important for me to teach her how to care for her items and take care of them even at the age she is at. We practice putting away her toys and cleaning up after herself when she makes a crazy mess in hopes that she learns the value of the things and appreciates them.
When we were kids the shopping and finding new items for our wardrobe was the best part. I always had a love for fashion and trends and was always so excited to walk into the halls at school with brand new clothes and shoes. Being raised by a single mom for years we were on a rather tight budget and in no way had a whole new wardrobe but we did get a bunch of new items and that was enough to put huge smiles on me and my sisters faces.
For “Back to School” we wanted to shop as much local or handmade as possible. We have so many local, talented shops that need support and love and have AWESOME products. We love these brands so much and the amazing products they sell. I’ve linked the outfit details below for easy shopping !
